Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism Review

One of the most popular daily disposable contacts on the market right now is the Dailies Total1. With it’s proprietary technology and high water content, Dailies Total1’s comfort is unparalleled. And after several years, it is now available in an astigmatism version

Contact lens technology has progressed a lot since the days of hard glass lenses, and Dailies Total1 is at the forefront of that technology progression. There are three main benefits of Dailies Total1:

Water Gradient Design

The unique design of this contact lens pulls water into the lens itself, keeping the lens moist all day long. This design was so successful that Alcon just launched a monthly lens with this technology called Total30.

High Oxygen Permeability

Your eyes need oxygen to stay healthy. A low quality contact lens can block oxygen from getting to your cornea, leading to health problems. A high quality lens like Dailies Total1 let’s oxygen pass through easily, keeping your eyes healthy and white.

Daily Disposable

Doctors agree that daily disposable contacts are the safest type of lens available these days. Because you only use dailies once and then throw them away, there’s less chance for an infection due to improper cleaning. Plus, a new lens each day means you always have that fresh lens feeling!

Benefits of Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism, from Alcon

What’s Special about Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism?

Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism has all the same benefits as regular Dailies Total1, plus some extra technology. The biggest benefit is the Precision Balance 8|4 design. Contacts for astigmatism have to be centered on your eye for them to work. If they rotate when you blink, your vision won’t be as clear.

The Precision Balance 8|4 design of Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism ensures the contact lens stays centered on your eye. No rotations means you enjoy crisp, clear vision all day long.

How does Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism Compare to Other Contacts?

In recent years there have been several new astigmatism daily disposable contacts released. Lots of options means you will definitely be able to find a lens that works for you. Below you can find some comparisons of DT1 for Astigmatism with other popular contacts.

Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism vs Acuvue Oasys 1-Day for Astigmatism

Both Dailies Total1 and Acuvue Oasys 1-day are made from silicon hydrogel materials, which means they both give you super high oxygen transmission. Either of these lenses will stay moist and comfortable all day long.

The main difference comes down to price. Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism is a brand new lens with a brand new technology, so it is slightly more expensive than Acuvue Oasys 1-Day for Astigmatism. You should also discuss both brands with your eye doctor, so they can let you know which would work better with your eyes.

Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism vs Clariti 1-Day Toric

Both Dailies Total1 and Clariti 1-Day are made from silicon hydrogel materials, but Dailies Total1 lets in 3x as much oxygen as Clariti 1-Day. If you need a lens with the highest oxygen permeability, then Dailies Total1 is your best bet.

When it comes to price, Clariti 1-Day Toric is cheaper than Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism. Clariti 1-Day Toric is an older lens, so the price has come down in recent years. If you need a cheap lens and don’t mind wearing an older technology, then you could talk to your doctor about Clariti 1-Day Toric.

Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism vs BioTrue OneDay for Astigmatism

BioTrue OneDay is made from an older hydrogel material, compared to Dailies Total1’s newer silicon hydrogel material. Dailies Total1 let’s in almost 4 times as much oxygen as the BioTrue OneDay material. However, BioTrue OneDay is much cheaper than DT1 because it is an older lens with an older material.

If your eyes are sensitive, then you should consider Dailies Total1 even though they are more expensive. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative, then BioTrue OneDay may be the lens for you.

Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism vs Precision1 for Astigmatism

Both Dailies Total1 and Precision1 are made by the same manufacturer, Alcon. Both of these lenses use the same Precision Balance 8|4 design, but they are made from slightly different materials. Dailies Total1 does have a higher oxygen level than Precision1, but Precision1 for Astigmatism is a bit more affordable than Dailies Total1.

When will Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism be Available?

Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism is available now, in both packs of 30 and packs of 90. The manufacturer has suggested retail prices that most doctors follow, but you can usually find this product cheaper online. Here is a price comparison chart for you to get the best price possible:

Bottom Line

Ultimately, the best lens for you can only be selected with help from your eye doctor. Be sure to discuss all these options with your eye doctor to see if Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism is the best contact lens for you.

  1. I have been a toric contact lens wearer for 20 plus years. I tried the non toric Total 1 daily and absolutely love them. SOOOO COMFORTABLE, but I always had to have reading glasses with me to make up for the astigmatism. So I just ordered the Total 1 daily for astigmatism, SO DISASSAPOINTED… They are hit and miss, some of them are perfect and sit just right in my eye and a different day they won’t sit in my eye correct at all, so I throw that lens away and try a different one. Somedays it takes up to 3 different lenses before I get one that will sit and stay properly. I am so sad…I thought the total 1 astigmatism would be it for me and I can’t wear the ones without astigmatism. Hopefully they will improve over time and I can try again.
